Generally not well known among Spanish wines, the wines of Valencia includes some terrific standouts, including wines from such premier wineries as Bodegas Enrique Mendoza, a family run winery located outside of the village of L’Alfàz Del Pi in the Marina Baixa comarca of Alicante province, just of the road when traveling from Dénia to Alicante.  Established in the 70s, Enrique continues the tradition in “La Marina Baixa”, making wine for family consumption, as well as for the national and international markets.  The family also owns a second winery in Villena, Finca El Chaconero, which is close to the “Virgen de las Virtudes” sanctuary.
